Five years ago, the Priority James Series began. Our goal then, was to provide an affordable, competitive and family friendly trail that would embrace the anglers in central Virginia. In addition, we wanted to set ourselves a part from any trail that has come before us. We prided ourselves in being able to pay out over 120% each tournament, rewarding our Points champions with a Toyota Tundra for their incredible year, and being an inaugural member of the BASS Team Trail. In those five years, we’ve seen over 400 different teams pass through boat checks and come across the scales. We’ve weighed in thousands of fish and paid out tens of thousands of dollars. More importantly, we have shared countless memories and have shared a part in some of the best memories many of you have had on the water.
Each of the five years has been extremely memorable for the entire Priority Fishing team and we are so thankful and blessed to have had the support of so many of you over the years. At the end of the day, our success was created by each one of you, the anglers, teams and families that have supported us over the years.
Over the last few weeks, we have given a lot of thought to the past years and to our future. We have decided, that the 2017 Priority James River Series Season will be our last season. As you can imagine, this was not an easy decision but a decision that we felt necessary to make. One of the biggest factors, is that we don’t feel that we can provide the 100% attention to the series that we have in the past and ultimately feel that you and the rest of our incredible sponsors deserve.
This announcement will certainly catch most by surprise, but we wanted to remain transparent and provide our teams and anglers time to plan their 2018 fishing seasons.
Priority Fishing will remain, but not at the same level. We will continue to support local charities and the local community by hosting some select individual fishing tournaments in the future.
Also, a tremendous thanks to our incredible tournament staff. The work they have done over the five years has been second to none. From the work that you see at every event to the countless hours they spend preparing for each event. Their hard work and professionalism made all of this come together.
Lastly, the Priority James River Trail could not have existed were it not for the fabulous leadership of our Tournament Director, Steve Camp and the incredible coordination by Jane Moore. Both of them worked tirelessly for hours and hours behind the scenes to create what we presented for the last five years. From Steve’s witty comments to Jane’s administrative wizardry, we owe these two a standing ovation. Bravo Steve and Jane!
We look forward to seeing each and every one of you at the 2 Day Classic, where we will crown the 2017 Points Champions and award their Toyota Tundra and celebrate the successes we all have experienced in the past 5 years.
Thank you all for the participation and success we have experienced in the last 5 years.
